Write, play, and share your own branching adventures
Bert's Gamebook Creator is a full authoring environment for the classic "pick a paragraph, roll a die, turn to page 42" style of interactive fiction made famous by Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf. It gives you everything you need to write, test, publish, and play your own gamebooks — without any extra software, plugins, or subscriptions.
The app runs entirely in your browser. There's nothing to install, and no account is required to start writing. When you're ready to work offline or prefer a dedicated app, an Android APK build is available too. Your work is saved locally as you go, and optional cloud backup keeps a private copy safe across devices when you sign in.
Bert's Gamebook Creator isn't just an editor — it's also a player. The built-in reader mode lets you (or your readers) actually play through your finished book with dice rolls, a live character sheet, adjustable font size, and auto-save. And when you're proud of what you've made, one click sends it to the public library where anyone can read and rate it.
It's free, it's open to everyone, and it's designed by a writer who loves gamebooks just as much as you do.

Installing the APK on Android
Because the Creator isn't distributed through the Play Store, Android will show a short warning before installing. This is standard for any app from outside the Play Store — the file itself is safe.
- Tap the downloaded BertsGamebookCreator.apk file in your notifications or Downloads folder.
- If Android says "For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source," tap Settings.
- Toggle Allow from this source on for your browser (e.g. Chrome).
- Go back and tap Install. You can turn the setting off again afterwards.
